Junior–Mid Quantity Surveyor (QS)

About the role

Matukane Investment Holdings is looking for a Junior–Mid Quantity Surveyor to support cost and commercial management across our construction projects from our Western Cape office. The successful candidate will help keep projects commercially on track — from measurement and valuations to cost reporting and final accounts.

Minimum requirements

• National Diploma, BTech or BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related built-environment qualification
• 3–5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
• Solid measurement skills — taking off quantities and preparing bills of quantities (BOQs)
• Experience with valuations, interim payment certificates and cost reporting
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Familiarity with standard contracts (JBCC, NEC or GCC) will be an advantage
• Proficiency in MS Excel and QS software (WinQS, CostX or Candy) will be an advantage
• Strong numerical, analytical and reporting skills
• Valid driver's licence will be an advantage
• Cape Town-based candidates will be preferred

Key responsibilities

• Prepare take-offs, bills of quantities and cost estimates
• Measure and value work done for interim payment certificates
• Monitor project costs against budget and report on variances
• Administer subcontractor accounts, reconciliations and procurement support
• Prepare and assess variations, claims and final accounts
• Support the site and commercial teams with contract administration
• Maintain accurate cost records and reporting for management
